The Bearguy Project

The Bearguy Project Our theme for this year’s SCGMC is the Bearguy, so I’m finally getting off my ass and starting up my Bearguy project. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew at this time. Sometimes when inspiration hits you, it’s like being hit by a motorcycle speeding from your blind spot. You’re […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

Upgrading the air compressor

Upgrading the air compressor Coming into some extra spare cash, I decided to upgrade my air compressor. Was there something wrong with my old compressor? Nope. It is still running. I only had one repair issue done about 10 years ago when the auto shutoff fuse blew. After that issue, I picked up a 10 gallon tank and configured […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

Grim Reaper Part 2

Grim Reaper Part 2 Last time we left off, I was cleaning up the last bits of the kit with the scythe and the clear pieces. I have no idea why some of these pieces are clear such as the tassels since they’re going to be painted solid colors. I can understand the hair being clear, some translucent painting […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

New resin figure project: Grim Reaper

New resin figure project: Grim Reaper Towards the end of the Mercedes build, this kit arrived. The sculptor calls her 死神のデス代 or just “Death/God of Death”, I prefer the less final name of Grim Reaper. I picked her up off yahoo!japan auctions right after Winter Wonfest 2018. Unknown to me was that the sculptor: https://twitter.com/chilmirumirumi was already planning on releasing the […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

Last progress update for the Mercedes The body paint is done, or so I had thought.. so on to the fun decal work. The paint for the body is tamiya bright gun metal which is a semi gloss finish. That means I need to clear coat the crap out of the body before getting to the decal stage. I did the […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

Mercedes AMG GT3 gets some real paint

Mercedes AMG GT3 gets some real paint I’ve been traveling quite a bit for work in the past month. Hell, 3 out of the last 4 weeks were spent in Eastern Standard Time zone. So work has been pretty slow on the project. Since the last update, I’ve gotten some decent work done when back at home base. Starting off with the […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

Of course… LEDs, what else? So a quick little update. I was out of town for the past two weeks so work on the thing slowed to almost a complete stop. But I was able to get some paint on here and there, then after a week of curing, getting some masking, and more paint and the suspension is still […] Source: GameraBaenre’s Blog

WIP: Vesuvibear

WIP: Vesuvibear The theme for SCGMC 2018 is Bearguys. I have a lot of builds planned for the theme this year. I started off this project going for a really quick build to get something done after taking a break from gunpla for about 6 months. This was originally going to be some creepy stone petite guy but the idea slowly morphed into some sort of lava creature. Started off by using a hobby knife to chisel at the plastic to give it a stone look. I used hot glue to make the eyes and mouth area so the light from the led is diffused. The head was lined with aluminum foil to reflect as much light as it could. Ran an led though the arm and modified a beam effect part to make it look more flame like. I … Read More
